api.minnet.tech
The licence server. It is contacted when you buy Pro, activate a key, or when the background alarm re-checks that an existing key is still valid — and, if analytics are on, once in a while to read your public IP so Google Analytics can show a country. It receives the licence key, the random installation id, that IP (not stored), and — if you choose to type one at checkout — an email address for the receipt. It never receives a URL you visited.
It is also what starts the free day of Pro, once per computer.
To recognise a computer that has already had its day, the
extension sends a one-way hash of a description of the machine
— processor core count, graphics chip, which common fonts are
installed, time zone and browser language. The description
itself never leaves the browser and cannot be recovered from
the hash. The server keeps the hash, a keyed hash of the IP the
trial was started from, and sets one cookie on
api.minnet.tech holding the trial's id. None of it
is used for anything else or shared with anyone.
